Rostelecom Data Center and DataLine launch a new Medvedkovo data center
The Rostelecom Data Center group of companies is putting into operation a new site located at the address: Chermyanskaya street, 4. The total area of the Medvedkovo data center is 20000 m2. The data center is designed for 16 machine halls with a capacity of 312 standard racks each with a design capacity of 36 MW.
As part of the first stage, 1248 racks were launched in four machine halls with a total capacity of 9 MW. The data center corresponds to the Tier III security level. Special engineering solutions are used in the project: redundancy of power and cooling supply, telecommunications routes, fire extinguishing and monitoring systems are implemented with a power reserve exceeding the N + 1 standard. This means that if one of the equipment's power nodes fails, and even if an additional power source fails, the power reserve will still remain at the N + 1 level.
In addition, the data center provides for the separation of the area for racks and engineering infrastructure. The maintenance service will maintain the infrastructure without contact with the machine hall. This provides an additional layer of security and minimizes contact with customer equipment.
“Vendors leaving the market and significant changes in the data center market have become the basis for developing new approaches. We are one of the few who launch a large-scale project in the current realities, while implementing unique solutions. The new Medvedkovo project is designed to ensure the highest safety and reliability of the equipment,” said Sergey Bochkarev, CEO of Rostelecom Data Center.
According to an analytical report by iKS-Consulting, the growth rate of the number of rack spaces in 2022 decreased compared to the previous year and amounted to only 6%. Despite this, Rostelecom Data Center plans to increase its capacity and resume high rates of launching new projects. At the end of April, the launch of the second stage of the Medvedkovo data center for another 1248 racks should take place, and by the end of 2023 the site will be fully commissioned. Also this year, it is planned to open another major project - the Moscow-V data center of Tier IV level.
