Looking Glass - a tool to check the quality of the internet connection and network connectivity of the data center in real time. To use the Looking Glass tool, you need to select the router and protocol of the command, (IPv4 or IPv6), and then select the command (ping, traceroute, sh ip bgp <prefix>).
Ping – a software utility to test network connections based on TCP/IP: it sends outgoing requests (ICMP Echo-Request) to a specified network node and captures incoming replies (ICMP Echo-Reply). Time between request and response enables to determine the round trip time(RTT) and packet loss rate on the route, so it allows to determine the load on the data transmission channels and intermediate devices.
Traceroute – a software utility to identify the data path in TCP/IP networks: it sends data to a specified network node, displaying information about all intermediate routers the data passes through to the target node.
sh ip bgp <prefix> - the command displays the various route options to a specific network.
